Wonderful news to wake up to. Just preordered. Also, OMG, 9 discs! I had a feeling this was going to be a big one.

Looks like the tracklist might take time to translate. There's quite a lot of tracks.

I have started translating it on a spreadsheet. I will share it when I am done, which will probably be later today or tomorrow. (Incidentally I also re-did the BotW soundtrack's translations a while ago as there were some oversights/inconsistencies, which is on the same document.)

I'm actually in the process of doing the same. I guess it's a race now. :P

Well, with translations it's not a bad thing to get multiple takes. We can compare any differences and choose the best ones.

So here's my submission (behind spoiler tags so as not to clutter the thread).

I confess I don't know Japanese. However, I used the text dump located at the link below, cross referencing the Japanese word/phrase with the localized English variant used:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...RilrA_hek/edit

Not all track titles have verbatim in-game phrases of course, so for some I had to use a combination of translation sites and context clues. The ones I was unsure about I've marked with an asterisk.

I wonder which tracks are recycled from Breath of the Wild? It would be kinda redundant to have those tracks in the album too.

Reused, not on official BotW OST, but now in stereo instead of mono:
Cooking Success Finish

Seems like a lot of them are in the TotK list. Town themes are separated into Day/Night for the TotK soundtrack, unlike the BotW soundtrack that had them mixed with transitions. A few are renamed to fit the TotK context, like the sheikah slate jingles to the arm jingles. Also, it seems the horned statue theme is so cursed they didn't include it on either soundtrack even though it's in both games.

Would be nice to omit those redundant tracks from the ToTK soundtrack so as to avoid padding. Then again.... Hmm....

I don't think they should be omitted, because some were split or changed. The Molduga Battle theme was also missing a section which I hope they fix. But, it would probably be useful to list which were in BotW, and if any tracks were modified.

Anyways, here is a link to my translations. I also consulted with a native speaker who looked over it and made corrections.

Some of them are based on my review of BotW's OST, which I'll bring up on that discussion page probably after this. That is to say, my track titles here are consistent with those I did for BotW, but they could potentially differ from this website's current titles. I think they are more accurate. However, some also differ from Rew's list in that they are consistent with both.

Regarding Rew's translation: Most of our translations are pretty similar, and some are just different where I tried to stay more accurate to the formatting of the Japanese in both style and tense. I also noticed several tracks were directly lifted from dialogue, so I found the same lines in the English version of the game. I changed a few of mine where I thought your wording was better, but some still differ. I can explain why I prefer my interpretation if you like- some I think are mistaken, while some I just think could be worded better. (I mean you no offense by this— we're in basically the same boat.)

The one I'm still left entirely confused on is 7.31, and I have a hunch they put the wrong kanji read as こうしん- it says 後進 ("telecommunications, conference") when I think it probably should be 更新 ("renewal, upgrade, improvement").

Here's my contribution via this spreadsheet. Tried to stay as accurate to the source material as possible, both the track names and their respective titles from the game if given, while also keeping some consistency between BotW's track names. Also reviewed Chubby Bub's spreadsheet and adjusted wherever I saw fit.

Only tracks I'm not 100% on are 2-27 and 2-28 as they're not direct translations of the track names, but they are close to the direct quote the title comes from (which is the intention of the Japanese track name). Please adjust wherever y'all see fit.

If there aren’t any objections to the tracklist via the spreadsheet above, I’ll go ahead and implement it sometime tomorrow.

We were already in agreement for most of them, and I also thought some of your changes were better. Here are the ones I still differ on. Again, some of these are just a matter of opinion, while some I feel could use correction.

Spoiler:

1.11 "First Location (Inside the Shrine) - Neither part of the translation seems accurate. It's not "First Location" but "First Time at a Location"; additionally, "Inside the Shrine" seems too specific because it's not exclusive to a single shrine, so I used "Shrine Interior". See also 9.57, 9.58 for "First Location"

1.18 "Nostalgic Land" - technically not inaccurate, but given the context I thought "Dearly-Missed Earth" works better. "Nostalgic" makes it seem like Link is remembering it when the point is it was fondly missed (both are meanings of 懐かしい), and "Land" is more ambiguous to me than "Earth" when it comes to the intended meaning of returning from the sky.

2.09 "Rito Village (During the Anomaly)" - "Phenomenon" is the word used by the English localization for the situations afflicting each village, so I went with that. See also 2.30, 3.05, 4.05, 5.05, 7.26

2.16 "Discover the Source of the Blizzard" - I think "Discovery of" or "Discovering" makes more sense here, as otherwise it sounds like an imperative.

2.26 "A Heart Container Appears" - I don't think the indefinite article is necessary.

3.01 "Lava Side" - I actually ended up changing this to "Lava Area" which I think makes more sense, but either works.

4.14 "Into the Whirlpool" - My original translation was worse, but it still omits the 大 so I'd say "Into the Great Whirlpool".

4.36 "The Return of Master Kohga Battle" - I think some sort of punctuation is needed before Battle, be it a colon or a dash. On that note, in places where you used a colon to indicate separation where the Japanese is implicit (e.g. the temple stages or "Malanya: Revival"), I used a dash. This is partially because the Japanese titles do in some instances actually use colons, so I thought the context is slightly different, and partially just a stylistic choice.

6.05 "Bolson's Dance of Joy" - BotW gives it the title "the Bolson Dance" so I said "Delightful Bolson Dance", but I also see why that can sound weird.

6.13 "There is Something I Want to Show You" - The English line from Puppet Zelda is "There is something here I want to show you.", but another one with little significance.

6.26 "Cece Hat" - Wondering if "The Cece Hat" would be better, as it's meant to be a unique item.

7.06 "Assemble the Parts" - The word used is 依り代 (yorishiro) which is term from Shinto meaning an object meant to house the spirit of a kami, so I said "Assemble the Spirit's Vessel".

8.13 "Gathering of the Sages" - I actually liked Rew's "The Sages Rally" to indicate they're preparing for battle, but either is fine.

9.20 "Lomei Labyrinth (Underground Labyrinth)" - The wording used by the localization for these locations is "Depths Labyrinth".

9.35 "Strengthening the Power of the Right Hand", 9.36 "Get Fanfare (Right Hand Power)" - the controls menu refers to the Zonai powers as "Right-Hand Ability", so I would use that wording. There should be a hyphen for Right-Hand in 9.36 anyways, as it's a compound adjective.

9.45 "Decolorizing" - The term used in-game is "bleaching"

9.47-56 "Link Humming" - I think "Link's Humming" is better to indicate the possessive.

9.60 "Inn (Regular)", 9.61 "Inn (Expensive)" - Also plays at beds you don't have to pay for like in Link or Zelda's house, so I went with "Lodging". But I admit it does sound a bit clunkier.

In any case, I'm glad we could work together on this.

Thank you for your feedback! Glad we're working with each other to put this together. I'll admit my translations are kinda rough, as I mostly used a rough translator (aka Google Translate lol), though for these translations I try to stay true to both their terms directly from the game, as well as any necessary parallels between BotW's english-translated track list.

With that being said, I've also looked at the corrections made above and many of them are very helpful. (Ironically many of those tracks were the ones I struggled with the most XD) So with those corrections in mind, plus the use of a better translator, I've updated most of them to match better with both those corrections and the in-game terms (such as the Phenomenons and Depths Labyrinth). Only things I'll mention in this post are the names I probably won't change and reasons why.

See also 9.57, 9.58 for "First Location"
I'll most likely keep this at "First Location" as that matches with both the direct translations and BotW's translation, though "Shrine Interior" instead of "Inside the Shrine" makes much more sense.

I do agree with the "Return of Master Kohga Battle" take as it does need some sort of punctuation to separate it. However I do think colons work better for the other tracks that use them. Partially because it looks neater to me, but also, going back to BotW's soundtrack, many japanese tracks that are separated by a space were typically given a colon in the english translation, whereas any tracks that used a dash replace the "・" character from the japanese tracks. So I basically applied that logic with this tracklist, primarily with the Shrine/Dungeon tracks and some battle tracks. Also "Malanya: Revival" parallels "Great Fairy: Revival" from both BotW and this, so I applied the colon to that too.

The direct translation for this was "Bolson's Dance of Joy" wherever I translated it, so I went with that to most closely match the original name's meaning. I haven't seen anywhere of the dance having a particular name in BotW, though I could be wrong. (It does have a name in TotK as "Lurelin Revival Dance", though that does differ from the japanese translation)

In TotK it is simply named "Cece Hat" and it is a direct translation from the japanese version, so I figured it made sense to remove the "The" to match its in-game name.

This is mostly another direct translation from the japanese title, though "Rally" makes sense too since they are preparing for battle. I prefer "Gathering" as they are primarily joining in together to aid Link.

Otherwise, everything else is looking great! Again huge shoutout to Chubby Bub for providing their translations, helping me adjust mine wherever necessary. I'll go ahead and put the track list together very soon.

First Location should definitely be changed to First Time at a Location, on the BotW list as well.

If the majority prefers that translation instead (since it is more accurate), I'll go ahead and make that change, probably in BotW's soundtrack as well. Been thinking it may need an update, since some translations aren't entirely accurate either.

If you take a look at my spreadsheet, there's another tab on which I corrected or improved some of the translations for that soundtrack as well, that being one of them. I used the same titles from there for TotK where applicable. I have a column for the current vgmdb translations and highlighted which ones differ. Though I think we any further discussion should probably move to that soundtrack's discussion page.

Also, last piece of feedback- the reason I suggest "The Cece Hat" is while "Cece Hat" is the name of the item, I think including "The" makes more sense for the track title, which plays when Cece shows it off and proclaims how special it is.

Thank you for the feedback! I've made a couple adjustments with the recent comments in mind. I've decided to rename the "First Location" tracks to "First Time in a Location". I think this fits better as it implies it's Link's first time in the location he's currently in. Also renamed "Cece Hat" to "The Cece Hat" as you make a good point that the track plays during an event revolving around the Cece Hat.

Beyond that, speaking of BotW's OST, I've also posted a proposal of some track changes via the Limited Edition. Changed a couple other track names here based on those changes, but if those changes aren't accepted I'll revert those tracks.
